About Human Resource Management, BA (Hons) - at University of Greenwich

People and their skills are vital to the success of any organisation. Human resource management (HRM) plays a key role in ensuring that businesses develop this critical resource to achieve strategic success. This programme is for you if you are currently working in, or hope to work in, HRM or general management.

Degree structure

In Year 1 you will study general management. In Year 2 and Year 3 you will study the context and practices of HRM, including how organisations manage people, and how they motivate employees to perform effectively. You will also gain an understanding of the wider social, economic, political and historical contexts within which organisations operate.

Professional development

You will have the option to undertake a work placement in your third year. Students on this programme can apply to join the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) as a student member. Membership will give you access to online resources including CIPD research, employment law information and fact sheets as well as career support and networking opportunities.

Employability

You will connect with employers through our dedicated Business School Employability Team who focus on developing your employment skills. They also provide you with CV support and will invite you to employment fairs to network with employers and recruiters from industries. The team was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

We are actively improving job prospects for graduates through the support we provide. According to survey findings, 93 per cent of 2014/15 Greenwich graduates looking for work were already in jobs or further study by January 2016.

Experience abroad

You can participate in the Erasmus+ international exchange programme. This will help improve your language skills and give you experience of living and working in another country. The Erasmus+ Scheme provides a grant towards the cost of studying abroad for a year.

Extracurricular activities

Our Greenwich Employability Passport scheme recognises and rewards your participation in additional activities such as part-time work, volunteering, student societies or industry guest lectures.

Business start-up

You will be encouraged to enter the university's Enterprise Challenge which rewards student entrepreneurship and innovation. Previous winners received a prize of £5,000 for their idea of developing an enterprise and study hub.
