About European Law, LLM - at Centre for Commercial Law Studies

There are dynamic and unprecedented changes affecting EU law today, such as Brexit and immigration policy, and there is a call for highly-trained, entrepreneurial legal professionals to contribute to and exact new policies as they occur. Take this compelling LLM at Queen Mary and be a part of a new cohort of graduates equipped to navigate and excel in European Law.

  • A high rate of student employment within six months of graduation
  • Prepare for a career in this growing subject, as the EU itself works across more policy areas
  • Become part of our vibrant friends and alumni network
  • Dedicated law careers advisers who organise events and internship opportunities with top UK and international law firms
  • Your fellow students will come from the UK and more than 80 other countries, each able to draw on prior academic and professional experience from different jurisdictions

You will get an in-depth understanding of European law theory. You will gain an advanced international and comparative approach, with exposure to crucial practical issues including constitutional law, the law relating to the single market, competition law, environmental law and employment law. You will be taught by staff who are advisers to European institutions such as EU institutions including the European Commission, the European Parliament and the EU Fundamental Rights Agency

You will dissect a wide range of topics and professions, including:

  • EU trade law
  • EU human rights law
  • EU migration law
  • Data protection
  • Criminal law
  • EU environmental law

You will also develop your ability to undertake basic research through both practical and theoretical means. We offer a Critical Thinking and Writing in Law module designed to improve your writing and research skills and the compulsory dissertation will fine-tune your ability to write sustained coherent narratives.
