About Economics of Money, Banking and Capital Markets, MSc - at University of East Anglia (UEA)

Study

MSc Economics of Money, Banking and Capital Markets is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of the economics of this area of study. The course provides a firm grasp of some of the methods, models and techniques currently used by firms and in international finance. Students will also develop specific skills highly relevant in the workplace as this is part of the School's Applied Training Programme.

Structure

Students take compulsory modules in economics, banking econometrics, financial markets, international finance, money and banking. As part of the course, you will undertake your own research on a topic of particular interest. Assessment will be carried out through combinations of coursework and exams. You will write a dissertation on a topic of your choice, supervised individually by an academic.

Teaching

Teaching is provided by members of academic staff, often in a relatively informal learning environment, and programmes incorporate lectures, seminars, and practical work, including computer lab sessions. Teaching specifically in UEA's School of Economics is informed by cutting edge research and practice; members of academic staff advise the European Commission, the Office of Fair Trading and other institutions, and their day-to-day experience in the running of competition policy gives a practical angle to the academic rigour of their teaching.

Employability

This course lays the foundations for a career in a wide range of financial professions, including banking and risk management. Students are encouraged to attend frequent university-wide careers and employability events, as well as UEA individual careers programme offering a number of economics focused events. These include careers coaching workshops, alumni speakers discussing their career paths and offering advice on securing employment.

Entry requirements

Open to applicants with a minimum 2.2 degree (or equivalent) in Economics, another relevant subject, or a degree involving relevant maths/statistics modules. UEA will also take into account the employment experience of applicants where relevant.
