About Marketing Management, BA (Hons) - at University of Greenwich

We were the first UK university to offer a specialist degree in marketing communications and we have continued to develop our portfolio since then. We have recently redesigned this degree in collaboration with employers and marketing professional bodies, allowing us to keep up to date with digital trends.
 
This degree will provide you with relevant skills and in addition, a valuable marketing industry qualification. In your first year you will gain a strong foundation in essential marketing principles. You will have the opportunity to gain exemptions from Chartered Institute of Marketing, Market Research Society and Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing examinations, gaining professional recognition early in your career.

You will build on these skills in Year 2 with an emphasis on marketing management and customer insight. Year 3 takes a strategic perspective and introduces direct, digital and internet marketing.

You will learn to analyse target audiences and implement integrated marketing communications campaigns. You will work on live briefs from a variety of organisations, including the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing.

Employability

In your third year you will have the option to undertake a work placement to build your core skills. Students from this programme usually gain the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing on graduation, boosting their careers.

The programme also provides exemptions from Market Research Society and Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing examinations. 

Youwill connect with employers through our dedicated Business SchoolEmployability Team who focus on developing your employmentskills. They also provide you with CV support and will inviteyou to employment fairs to network with employers and recruiters fromindustries. The team was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

We are actively improving job prospects for graduatesthrough the support we provide. According to survey findings, 93 per centof 2014/15 Greenwich graduates looking for work were already in jobs or furtherstudy by January 2016.

Experience abroad

You can participate in the Erasmus+international exchange programme. This will help improve your languageskills and give you experience of living and working in anothercountry. The Erasmus+ Scheme provides a grant towards the cost ofstudying abroad for a year.

Extracurricular activities

Our Greenwich Employability Passport scheme recognises and rewards your participation for extra activities in part-time work, volunteering, student societies or industry guest lectures.

The student's Marketing Society has over 100 members. The Society combines a mixture of academic and social activities. It's a great chance to hear about the industry from experts, previous speakers included IBM and Mediacom. A great way for you to create business contacts.

Our marketing students achieved first place in the latest national marketing competition organised by the Institute of Direct Marketing.

Business start-up

You will be encouraged to enter theuniversity's Enterprise Challenge which rewards student entrepreneurship andinnovation. Previous winners received aprize of £5,000 for their idea of developing an enterprise and study hub.
