Biotechnology Degrees in Italy

Study Biotechnology Degrees

Biotechnology looks at the coming together of natural sciences and engineering sciences in order to use biological systems and living organisms to create products that meet a certain need. There are five main areas of biotechnology: animal, environmental, human, industrial and plant. You might choose to study a degree that focuses on one of these areas specifically, or a degree that covers them all throughout your studies.

Graduates of a degree in biotechnology will have a range of career options available to them. These include microbiologist, geneticist, ecological consultant, research analyst, and laboratory technician, among others.

Your degree will be delivered through a mixture of modes. These will include lectures and seminars, as well as practical laboratory based sessions. Depending on your course, you may also have the opportunity to take part in a work placement. Modules you study could include:

  • Genetics
  • Cells to Organisms
  • Molecular Biotechnology
  • Neuroscience
  • Population and Evolution
  • Behavioural Ecology
