About Music (Honours Bachelor of Music), BM - at University of Windsor

Two streams: Music Education; Music Comprehensive

Requires an entrance audition on student's major instrument

Bachelor of Music (Honours) - Music Education

Offers a direct pathway to a Faculty of Education in Ontario to become a qualified high school or elementary school specialist music teacher

Teaching music in communities, private studios, and schools at all levels

Offers a direct pathway to a graduate program in performance and performance studies

UWindsor music education students receive the same high standard and amount of private studio experience as BMus in performance students

Bachelor of Music (Honours) - Comprehensive

Flexibility to focus on music performance or academic music disciplines (musicology and theory)

Intensive, professional training with applied study in classical or jazz/pop disciplines

Students hone musical skills through private instruction on a principal instrument (including voice), ensemble participation and courses to improve listening, sight singing and dictation

Exposure to a diversity of music from traditional Western art music to jazz, pop, electro-acoustic and world music; exposure to regional cultural institutions

Notes about fees for this course

Fees are an estimation and are based on tuition for eight (8) months or two (2) academic terms. Does not include Incidental Fees ($1,600-$1,700*), Textbooks ($1,000*), Living Expenses ($5,800**), or Meal Plan ($2,300***).

** Living on campus in Laurier Hall, traditional double

*** Light meal plan. Not needed if living off campus

Incoming Music students must pass a written theory test, based on completing Royal Conservatory Advanced Rudiments or equivalent

English Language Proficiency

The following are many different types of English proficiency tests that the university accepts with the minimum required scores:

TOEFL - Computer based score: 220 with Test of Written English score: 4.5. Internet based score: 83 with essay score: 20.

IELTS: 6.5.

CAEL: 60.

MELAB: 85.
